This is a terrific example of an effective and shocking use of advertising for the almost crippling magazine industry.

In this extremely bizarre advertisement straight out of Frankfurt, Germany, advertising agency Vier Fur Texas develop this “Play >” for “Swiss World of Erotic.” Art director Sebastian Sell truely turned heads with this ad spot.

Kayak.com is running a contest in which people can submit ads and if the company likes it, they will fly the creator to New York, NY to have it professionally produced. Over 400+ ads have been submitted and hosted on YouTube.

The website doesn’t intend to offend anyone and just make you laugh while remembering to “search kayak.com before your trip.” Each commercial is pretty whacky and each one begins with “Trip Idea #__” and then they use what looks like pictures cut out of magazines and then animated.

My favorite is “Liberals Visit The White House” with Howard Dean yelling the infamous “Hiiiyaaah!!”
