Subway Boxer Commercial
Television Ads December 5th, 2006This is a Subway commercial where we see a ‘wanna-be’ Rocky running to his corner man (Get Em’ Rock!) who wants nothing more than a big juicy fattening hot pastrami sub sandwich. That’ll sure help him out. Seriously. I undertstand how a big appetite works with a big sandwich but what does a physically fit person have to do with the Big Hot Pastrami Sub?

Well, here’s my idea. Subway advertises their 6 inch sandwiches with 6 grams of fat or less. However, that means you get no cheese, mayo, black olives, or other condiments (no parmeasean cheese even). That hot pastrami sub would have somewhere between 20 - 30 grams of fat when you add it all up. The imagery of the physically fit boxer being replenished through the consumption of a big hot pastrami sub trys to convey that this sandwich is a good post-work out meal. Obviously, at 20 - 30 grams it is not.
