The Simpson’s creators are developing a special Halloween special which will be based on a satirical look at the Iraq War. In the episode, The Simpsons will be invaded by aliens who want to prevent mankind from obtaining “weapons of mass disintegration.” The mission of the aliens will be called “Operating Enduring Occupation” which turns into a quagmire. Perhaps, in the past the creators of The Simpsons have been afraid to target hot button issues. Throughout the over 1 decade of exsistence, The Simpsons now need the make a stance and grab a new audience as their audience continues to dwindle. The final line in the episode, “This sure is a lot like Iraq will be” pretty much sums things up. The episode will not be politically loaded. Nonetheless, FOX is taking a bold move with the episode and will hopefully generate a buzz to keep the show going on for another year or two.
