Discover Marketing Inspiration In Big Business
Business Marketing July 24th, 2006
Mega entrepeneur Donald Trump has inspired millions with his books, seminars, primetime television show, towers, casinos, and so much more.
A man who has his name in lights all over the world surely must have a big head on his shoulders. Yet, we all admire a this man for achieving so much over and over again. Big business and rags to riches stories inspire us. Late night informericlas give us hope of a better tomorrow. They inspire us soo much in the business world that we work to emulate them no matter how big or small we are.

I am here, of course, to write for the common small business start ups that want an edge over the competition and stand out in their industry. I have helped turn ordinary businesses into extraordinary money making machines that have outperformed all of their previous expectations.
The question of course is how do they do it. Traditional advertising strategies that have worked in the past will not always work tomorrow. Many of these smaller businesses look to the corporate world to find a marketing mentor but quickly realize they spend (waste) a tremendous amount of time, energy, and money.
But why?
Many of these big name corporations don’t have to worry about shoveling in another $5 million dollars a year into advertising. They aren’t worrying about whether they should invest more into advertising and not be able to put food on the table for their families. Their company’s agenda is for marketing is not necessarily to help boost profits next quarter. Unfortunately, for you and I, we have to be extremely picky about where we put our hard earned dollars.
Your Must Be Aware Of Who You Copy:
Sorry, but everyone does not have the same goals as you do. When you look to other small business firms, inside or outside your industry, be aware of their objectives and strategies they have for achieving their goals. If their reason for doing what they do does not closely tie in with what you are looking to do please be cautious. Many vague purposes arise out of small business marketing such as ‘make money’ or ‘get more customer.’
Do your homework and understand marketing before looking at another business to copy. If you do not know exactly what a target market is or how to write an effective marketing plan than I strongly recommend you get ready to research.
Finding A Mentor In A Friend:
It’s a good idea to join your local Chamber of Commerce if you haven’t already. Networking with local business organizations can help you meet new and exciting people who might also bring a more personal inspiration and persona to copy than simply sitting in the shadows and studying another business from afar.
Personally, I joined the Jaycees in Minnesota only a week ago after a business client of mine had mentioned that they have numerous young entrepeneurs such as myself involved in the organization. And, I might add, my involvement has only brought additional business and helped me network. I strongly recommend joining a local business group in your area.
