Proper Way To Exchange Business Cards
Business Tips July 13th, 2006When you first meet someone in the business setting you should only request a business card if you provide yours first… most of the time.
There’s an exception to this rule that you’ve learned. When exchanging business cards with someone of a higher business position you HAVE to wait for that person to offer you their card first. Do not request a card or push your card on them. This seems pathetic and nosey.
In addition, only provide one business card unless they request more instead of leaving two, three, or twenty with them to hand out to their colleagues. If you do this, most likely they will not land in the hands of their associates, rather, in the bottom of the trash for your pushy persistence. The contact is no your sales person and will consider your gesture tacky.
