Google Checkout Gets Serious About Marketing
Online Marketing November 11th, 2006

Google’s PayPal killer has added two new features - a coupon creator and an email invoice product which are most likely the result of customer feedback. I tried out the Google Checkout invoice creator last night and sent it to one of our sponsors. I was pleased that the payor did not need to have a GMail account to pay the invoice.
Another great marketing strategy Google Checkout is doing to kill PayPal is to waive all transaction fees until the end of the year. I am excited that the 2% fee plus $0.20 per transaction was waived now as the holiday season quickly approaches. Google Checkout also stomps the competition by offering superior and timely customer service support. On the other hand, PayPal is always a horrendous ordeal. PayPal is a nightmare when it comes to extremely long automated voice menus and customer service rep’s who appear to not have made it to college.
