Audrey Hepburn Pushing Gap Past The Grave
Television Ads October 2nd, 2006
Audrey Hepburn, the legendary Hollwod actress, is still busy marketing for companies years after her death. In a new commercial ad spot for Gap Jeans, Audrey is seen dancing in “skinny new black pants” from her famous movie, Funny Face (1957) while “Back in Black” by AC / DC plays in the background in almost perfect synchronization with her dance steps. Under the condition that a large donation be given to the Audrey Hepburn Children’s Fund, Gap was allowed to use the rights to the short movie clip from Audrey’s son Sean Ferrer.
Gap and several other big clothing retailers are trying to cash in on the appeal of old Hollywood fashion icons such as Audrey but are failing to realize that many actresses were extremely thin in those days. Audrey was a mere 110lbs and 5′7″. Most women in America, even younger ones, would find it almost insulting that clothing retailers were busy pushing the “skinny” black pant to an audience of women 140lbs and up. Add to Onlywire
